AWOL DA MINDWRITER
AWOL Da Mindwriter (Aggressive Writer Outta Line) is a rising Hip Hop recording artist, hailing from Great Neck, NY. His music is defined as part of his name, Mindwriter, a writer who professes what he writes without means of word processing. Since his teenage adolescence in the Mid-2000s, he has been Inspired by the NYC underground scene, his profound and unfathomable desire for video games, and SEGA systems including the SEGA Genesis. All of which lyrically appears as a metaphor to his turbulent life experiences. AWOL has done shows with the likes of Percee P, R.A. The Rugged Man, The Outsidaz, and Ghostface Killah.
Since his 2019 EP release “Insert Coin: The Sampler.” produced by The Doppelgangaz, Mindwriter has followed up with two releases with his co-producer JHershey: “SEGA AM2” (2021) and his latest installment “SEGA-AM2 (Part II)” (2023).
Towards the end of 2020, AWOL Da Mindwriter suffered a tragic, near-fatal car accident, which had him induced into a coma, fighting for his life, with a laceration on his right eye, a broken dislocated finger, and broken right leg. These personal experiences made their way into AWOL’s lyricism and Jhershey’s production as each song alludes to his brush with death, PTSD, racism and loss.
